Helmet Liners & Fingerless Mitts

Helmet Liners & Fingerless Mitts

Sun, November 20, 2011 2:00 PM

Sometimes when things are tough or we've had a bad day, we need to stop and think about our military who would gladly trade their good days for our bad days.

To help show our appreciation for what they do and help keep them a little warmer during the cold winter, we will kick off our 4th year of knitting (and crocheting!) for the military this Sunday, September 11, 2011, 2-4pm. Karen Johnson has once again volunteered her time to coordinate this program and it would not be possible without all of her effort. She will be here each Sunday to encourage and help those who want to join in this cause.

Karen said she will be using the Helmetliner pattern by Bonnie Long and/or the Cascade fingerless mitts. Both patterns are free on Ravelry & use the Cascade 220 Superwash. (Please download your copy before coming.)

Donation of items will be collected through the end of November for a December 1st shipment to the Thunderbird Unit of National Guard out of Mustang. If you do not live close, you may send the finished garments to Gourmet Yarn Co. & we will be sure to include them in our shipment.

Note: You may have read that the military is no longer doing this and issuing their own. When this issue first arose, we discussed it with the unit and they stated that they very much appreciate the liners.
