The Gourmet Yarn Co. Class Policies and Requirements
Requirements for taking classes: Beginning Knittingall welcome! We will offer special teenage and childrens knitting classes when possible. Students for beginning classes should be at least 13 years of age, however, exceptions can be madeso please call the shop to find out.
For all Knitting Techniques classes, you must be able to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. If you can only complete the knit stitchthen we suggest that you take the Beginning Knitting class before trying any Knitting Technique classes.
Reservations: Classes are reserved on a first-come basis. Only full payment of the class fee will reserve the class for you. Phone 405.286.3737 to charge reservations to your Visa/Mastercard or Discover card. If you cannot make both sessions of a particular class, pleaes take your class at a later time when you can attend both sessions.
Magic Numbers: We will cancel a class if less than the minimum number of students required has not been met five days before the class begins. If we cancel, we will happily (1) refund your class fee; (2) apply the amount toward another class; or (3) apply the amount toward the purchase of merchandise.
Refunds: Your class fee is refundable or transferable up to one week (seven days) prior to the first time the class meets.
Supplies: Supplies can be purchased at The Gourmet Yarn Co. We try to start our beginning students on bamboo needles in a US size 8 or 10 in order for the student to recognize stitches. If you want to make a scarf for a beginning class following samples in the storemany of them are knitted on a US size 17 or 19. These large needles are sometimes difficult or cumbersome for a beginner ot use; therefore we recommend practicing swatches on smaller needles and then moving up to a larger needle.
Weather: In case of bad weather, The Gourmet Yarn Co. will follow the Public School closings. If your class is cancelled, either the class will be made up at a later date or your money will be refunded.
Visitor/Baby/Cell-phone No-No: Please do not bring visitors or children to class. If you must bring your cellular phone, please keep it off during class as a courtesy to the teacher and other class members. We are happy to let you kow if you have an emergency call. If you are feeling ill, please be respectful of your fellow classmates and shop personnel.
Note: Please, mark your calendar when you sign up for classes. We do not make reminder calls. If there is a change in the scheduled class, we will try to contact you. If a class is cancelled, we will let you know.
